Volunteers have always been the lifeblood of our communities in Wales, with one in three people typically volunteering at any one time.

National Volunteer’s Week is an annual UK wide celebration of volunteers taking place each year between 1 – 7 June.

This year marks 39 years of recognising volunteers during this special week in June.

The overarching focus agreed by UK partners for Volunteers’ Week 2023 will be ‘Celebrate and inspire’.

We are encouraging a focus for this year on some of the aspects that we want to celebrate about volunteering across the UK. These are:

Our diversity is our strength

There’s more than one way of volunteering

Being the change we want to see

Mental Health Awareness Week is just a month away, running from the 15th – 21st May.

This year anxiety is the theme for Mental Health Awareness Week. The campaign is looking to help increase people's awareness and understanding of anxiety by providing information on the things that can help prevent it from becoming a problem or someone reaching crisis point.

Here at VAMT we would like to support and share local activities, groups and organisations that support people with their mental health and wellbeing.

Are you a local group or organisation that are planning something for Mental Health Awareness Week or do you offer support or activities that benefit people’s mental health and wellbeing?

Faye our Mental Health Development Officer would love to hear from you. Perhaps you’ve plans for a crafting session or a walk group outing or a simple coffee morning? Contact Faye on faye.johnson@vamt.net and we can help to promote your support and activities across the Merthyr Borough.
