There are few types of schemes:

Woodland Trust – if you are: planting a single tree or a few trees; part of a community group; a school or; a farmer.

Small Grants Woodland Creation scheme by WG- If you are planting more than 0.1 hectares (0.25 acres) and less than two hectares (4.94 acres). Your land must be in a low sensitivity area.

Woodland Creation Planning scheme by WG – Grants between £1,000 - £,5000. You can use the funding to get a registered woodland planner, they will help you to develop a woodland creation plan. If your land is: not in a low sensitivity area; is over two hectares (4.94 acres) and; is at least 0.25 hectares (0.62 acres) in size.
The Woodland Creation Grant scheme provides funding for tree planting and fencing. Farmers and landowners can apply for this scheme. If you are planting more than 0.25ha (0.62 acres) you can apply for this scheme. There is no maximum size limit. You will need to apply for the Woodland Creation Planning scheme and have a plan in place before you can apply for this scheme.

The Woodland Investment Grant is for landowners and managers including not-for-profit organisations. You can use this grant to create woodlands for local communities to use. Your woodland must have the potential to be part of the National Forest for Wales programme in the future.

If you’re planning to plant trees in your community then The Tree Council grants can help. The grants are for schools, community groups and Tree Warden Networks. You can use these grants to plant trees, hedges, and orchards.

Local Collaborations programme

This programme is aimed at supporting impactful collaborations that are led by small and local charities that have the specialist knowledge, compassion for people, and the drive to push for long lasting change.

We are awarding flexible grants of £100,000 over two years. Collaborations will have the opportunity to extend by a further year and additional £50,000.

This funding cannot be used to fund direct delivery of services and is exclusively to support partnerships to influence locally and regionally.

Your influencing work will align with at least one of the following themes:

making the social security system work better for those facing the greatest challenges;
making sure people facing complex issues have access to suitable accommodation;
improving support and services for asylum seekers and refugees.

We are now open for applications until Friday 22^nd September. The Panel decisions will be in late February 2024.
