In just four days time, families, friends, communities and workplaces across the country will be coming together to mark Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD), on 27 January. If you have planned your activity for HMD please let us know your plans by adding them to our activity map.

If you are still to plan your HMD activity, then there is still time as HMD activities can take place up until the end of February.

Marking HMD can be transformative for those involved. Learning about genocide, those who survived and those who were murdered increases empathy and inspires us all to take action against the racism, bigotry and hatred we find today. To see the impact of marking HMD you can watch a short film here from HMD activity organisers across the UK. You can also learn about the incredible impact of HMD on prisoners at HMP Magilligan.

The Holocaust Memorial Trust (HMDT) is here to help and support you with resources, ideas and guidance for your HMD activity:

  • Free to use resources including films, educational materials, social media assets and more can be found on our website.
  • See updated guidance for how to mark HMD in 2024.
  • Our national moment, Light the Darkness, is at 8pm on 27 January and can be joined in person and digitally.
  • Register here to watch online the HMD 2024 UK Ceremony: Curated Moments.
