Youth Mayor nominations are now open!
We are pleased to announce that to give young people more time to consider the role, applications for the 2026 Youth Mayor Hustings officially open today!
To help us reach as many young people as possible over the summer break, we kindly ask that this year’s resources are shared widely through your usual communication channels and displayed within your setting.

The deadline for all candidate applications is Thursday 17th September 2026.
As always, Youth Mayor applications are open to all young people aged 11–23 who live or study in Merthyr Tydfil. As last year’s 14 candidates felt overwhelming for many voters, this year the candidate limit is set at 10. If more than 10 applications are received, MTCBC Youth Services will provide support to ensure a fair selection process.
