Community Coordinators

Voluntary Action Merthyr Tydfil is the host employer for a dedicated team of Community Coordinators who operate across Merthyr Tydfil.

What is a Community Coordinator?

Community Coordinators support individuals aged 50+ and their carer’s in helping them access services, activities, and support that promote independence, health, and wellbeing.

What do we do?

Our Community Coordinators aim to improve wellbeing through reducing social isolation and loneliness. We can connect people to community activities, groups and services to help support their social, practical and emotional needs. This could include working with other third sector organisation to access:

  • Befriending – combatting loneliness through phone or in-person companionship
  • Benefits checks – making sure people receive what they’re entitled to
  • Home adaptations – improving safety and accessibility
  • Practical support – help with shopping, cleaning, and gardening
  • Condition-specific support – such as dementia guidance and signposting

Strong community links

Our team works closely with Third Sector Organisations, Local Authorities, and Health to provide seamless support tailored to individual needs.
