  • MAGNET is made up of 7 projects and Voluntary Action Merthyr Tydfil (VAMT) is the main organisation.

This is a project to work with the gypsy / traveller community in Merthyr Tydfil to build confidence, skills and create opportunities for effective engagement with service providers.

Focal Point

Lead Organisation: Merthyr Tydfil Housing Association (MTHA) in partnership with Polish Community of the Valleys Association (PCVA).

This is a project which will work with migrant workers to encourage inclusion and improve cultural awareness in the wider community. The project will identify and support champions, create support groups and link with service providers to shape future services.

This is an advocacy project to empower disabled persons to be able to speak up and create forums for disabled people to agree collective action and engage with service providers.

Lead Organisation: Merthyr Valleys Homes (MVH)

Project Start Date: 27 August 2013

This is an inter-generational project between younger and older people living in social housing. The project will look at how residents have been and will be able to get involved in past, present and future housing policies. This project will cover the Gurnos, Caedraw and Trelewis.

This is a bilingual project which will use the arts to engage residents living in the Communities First Northern Cluster (Gurnos, Galon Uchaf and Dowlais) to give them the self confidence, expertise and motivation to say about themselves and their communities.
